Orange County Public Library Foundation Projects & Events

Current Projects:

1.  1000 Books Before Kindergarten - An on-going system wide program offered through all 33 branches to encourage family literacy by offering recognition and prizes for books being read to children birth to 5. Foundation purchased 10,000 book bags given to participating families.

2.  Big Read -  6 month program focused on one book and culminating with March 7, 2018 Celeste Ng at Bowers Museum. Over 300 people came to hear the author discuss her books at a free program. Underwritten in part by OCPL Foundation

3.  Literary Orange with the Orange County Public Libraries. This event brought together authors, readers & libraries in a celebration of literature.  

4.  Orange County Children’s Book Festival with the Orange County Department of Education, Orange County Public Libraries, and Orange Coast College. The Festival is designed specifically for children of all ages. 

5.  Career Online High School - OC Public Libraries offers  qualified community members the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and credentialed career certificate through Career Online High School, part of the world’s first accredited, private online school district. Career Online High School is specifically designed to reengage adults into the education system and prepare them for entry into post-secondary career education or the workforce. The OCPL Foundation provides scholarships for qualified students.
